Pesto Pinwheels

Ingredients :

1 package 17 oz. frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 cup pesto
1 egg slightly beaten

METHOD:

Heat oven to 400 degrees.

Roll each sheet of puff pastry on a very lightly floured surface into a rectangle, 15" x 10".

Spread 1/2 cup of the pesto evenly over each rectangle to within 1/2 inch of the long sides.

Starting on the smaller 10-inch side, loosely fold pastry into a roll. Brush the end with the egg and pinch to seal.

At this point you can cut each roll into 1/2-inch slices, using a sharp knife. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

You could also cut the rolls in half and bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown. Slice to serve.
